Steve Hilton, a political commentator, underscored the urgency of a border bill while expressing skepticism about the likelihood of its swift resolution in a divided Congress during an election year. Hilton was a guest on a recent episode of the Next Round Podcast.

“Yes, of course, we need to have a border bill yesterday,” said Hilton on the Next Round Podcast hosted by the Pacific Research Institute think tank. “But to think that this Congress that's so divided could attempt to address an issue that has stumped members of Congress literally for decades in a matter of a few weeks, and also in an election year, you know, I will put it charitably and say that was rather ambitious to think that they could accomplish this.”

“You know, there are obviously hurt feelings from the House basically refusing to take up the bill,” Hilton said. “I don't see any way that the House would be even forced to hold a vote on that bill. The bottom line is a lot of our friends in Washington just aren't dealing with the reality in front of them and certainly the art of the possible of what they can get done."

Hilton, previously an advisor to UK Prime Minister David Cameron, now leads Golden Together, a California-based group focused on affordable housing solutions. Renowned for his Fox News show The Next Revolution, Hilton also hosts The Steve Hilton Show.
