Former Pacific Research Institute (PRI) speechwriter Tim Anaya said despite Biden's efforts to address various issues in his State of the Union Address, his performance remained largely unchanged in most categories and worsened in others and that he did not achieve his objectives with the speech. Anaya was a guest on a recent episode of the Next Round Podcast.

"On seven of the nine categories, he rated about the same after the speech as he did before the speech," said Anaya on the Next Round Podcast hosted by the Pacific Research Institute think tank. "Now he didn't gain on the issue of abortion, which could be a very key issue among swing voters in November. And he worsened though on the issue of Israel and Hamas. It's pretty clear that the president has not achieved his goals.”

"We do have the caveat, of course, the State of The Union seemed to kind of kick off the president's campaign," Anaya said. “He and his, the First Lady, and the Vice President, and a lot of cabinet members went on a road tour and are going to travel over the country this month. He's starting a 30 million dollar ad blitz, so we'll see if that does any good to his standing in the poll, but I think it's pretty clear he didn't achieve his objectives with his speech.”

This full episode is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Anaya served as a speechwriter to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and various legislators. He now holds the role of Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Pacific Research Institute.
